other photos in Ilocos

here are some of the pics that we took during or vacation last December '06 in Ilocos

Elmer and JB were relaxing in Aunty Pil's sideyard when this was taken (during our 1st day)

this is Solsona's municipal hall

the "teatro." this is where i saw a lot of programs (be it during the town fiesta, school presentations, etc.) since childhood until my teen years. i can "vaguely" remember a Marcos political sortie when i was still small, that was the 1st time i saw Marcos and Imelda from afar, there were a lot of people then, and there were bus loads of artistas...

the "improved" basketball court in Solsona now doubles as the tennis court

taken infront of the water fountain in Solsona's town plaza (December 2006), taken in the afternoon of our 1st day there

JB and Joy infront of the new unpainted statue at Solsona's town plaza

this was taken in aunty Pil's frontyard after we went swimming in Gasgas (river)

This was taken in Laoag, Laoag's Sinking Bell Tower can be seen in the background, as well as the park with its December 2006 holiday decorations

Elmer infront of the Tobacco Monopoly obelisk in Laoag's town plaza

the building behind Elmer is the Hall of Justice. the young Marcos lawyer was incarcerated in one of the rooms in that building while being charged as Nalundasan's assasin

JB at Ocean Adventure

After waiting for the other batch (from the Tiger Safari) our bus rolled on to the Zoobic (the other side of the jucntion is a mini-zoo). We bought a blue ostrich pen there (for JB).

JB near the sleeping black bear

It was JB's 1st time to see a live bear (unfortunately it was sleeping while we were there, it must be the weather).

Then the buses all went down the mountain on to Ocean Adventure! We were first given packed lunches, the lunch really isn't good! It consisted of fried chicken strips too peppery for JB's taste and the chicken strips really are hard to bite (matigas na mukhang na-prepare earlier), the juice was not to JB's taste also, even the macaroni and cheese, fortunately i made him eat his portion of our baon kaya he really wasn't hungry then.

After lunch we were ushered to the sea lion show.

The Sea Lion Show

JB just finished crying here, he wanted us to sit at the upper stand but i choosed the lower benches near the stage (for a closer view of the show)

the sea lion show

After the sea lion show almost everybody went to the souvenir shop, JB choosed the blue dolphin stuff toy. I told him to share the stuff toy with Joy. We also bought 2 Ocean Adventure key chains.

Then we went on to the ice cream stall we bought a scoop for JB, the ice cream was not that good (haluhalo flavor) it was a Magnolia ice cream but it was just not to JB's taste, so I ended up eating the ice cream which cost me 40 bucks(!) for one small scoop!

while waiting for the whale and dolphins show

the whale threw its trainor up in the air!

We then hurried to the grandstand for the dolphin and whale show. almost all seats were occupied by then. JB was excited, he walked up and down the stands even to the veery side just to have a closer look at the baby sharks below the stands.

my niece ...Quennie

and here's Janet with Joy (taken during Joy's 1st Birthday). Janet is Queenie's mom.

photo-taken after JB's nursery grad ceremony

this was taken during Shineridge School's Book Month Celebration (JB won the Best in Costume), JB was still in Kinder here

Joy with her big brother JB. Joy was still less than a week old here.

Joy and JB in Macalelon, Quezon. This photo was taken infront of my mother-in-law's carinderia. She's the one behind the counter, with the kids are Dianne and her husband - Zaldy.

Joy was really exhausted here, this was taken as soon as we got home after her 1st "pasyal" sa DIWA

mommy! me crocodile! tsaka tiger ba yun?!

yeeps! down the aeta's trail there's this place where you can skip from one cement post (made to look like tree stumps) to another and in between those stumps were lots of baby crocs! yiiipes! talaga! some kids went through and although i did felt the urge to join them, i didn't dare 'coz of JB! he might follow and what if he fell down to those 'hungry' baby crocs?! well!

after that we reached the small man-made lake where the bigger crocodiles seem to plaster every space! girl! should you by accident (wag naman!) fall into that lake ABSOLUTELY your lunch, history, tugged from every tendon down to the thinnest myelastin sheet!

JB was really a bit afraid of walking on the metal pathwalk/bridge across the crocodile lake. he saw how the chicken thrown at the crocodiles were snapped out of sight in a sec!

i also took a picture of JB in front of one of the buses after seeing the crocs.

Next >>> Tiger Safari!

i can say that aside from the Ocean Adventure portion of the field trip this was one of the most exciting phase.

parents, kids, yayas, grandparents alike were all electrified during the Tiger Safari! Nothing beats a REALLY CLOSE ENCOUNTER with big games! heheheee

the photo of JB and mom was taken inside the Safari jeep, he was a really scared here and so quiet, he scarcely utterred a word

that was the tiger that jumped on the rooftop of the Safari jeep we were in. it was after the chicken leg thrown by a guide. in the photo it was chewing on the chicken leg just above our heads!

here, JB was really quiet and di sya naglilikot at sobra syang nakadikit sa akin and his hands were clammy! hehehe!

Aeta's trail!

JB in Subic's Zoobic Safari

the tour guide escorted our bus first to the tiger dens.

we were asked to make a single file and to look after the kids and to remind them not to taunt or stick their hands nor get too near the tiger's cages. the tour guide told us that the tigers are cranky sometimes and they also piss at unsuspecting visitors (ooooppsss!) so he told us to always be on guard! er?!

the tigers were really huge at such a short distance, really menacing even if they were behind those bars, i was a bit apprehensive. they are naturally strong and wild and at will they can destroy strong bars! erg!

my son was a bit hesitant in joining this short tour! i cajoled him into joining, i don't want him to miss this small adventure (i know he'll cherish, in a way, one day).

i took a picture of JB infront of the tigers' dens.

next stop was the junction (this is where every group/bus gets to take their turns at the various safari spots, there's also a mini zoo and a fastfood restaurant there, and some tigers, they were actually bathing them when we first got there (before we were ushered to the tiger's dens). we were asked to pass by one adult tiger (really HUGE) he was chained to a post but still his presence was menacing that some kids and adults were afraid to pass by it. but i just had to have my son pass by it (i know he'll remember it and will cherish the experience even if he won't do it again). JB don't want to pass by the tiger but of course i again cajoled him and in the process he had a scratch on his right cheek, a bougainvillea thorn did it, 'coz of trying to pass as far from the tiger as he could! so much for the protective mother! hehehe
